Remote Desktop Support (RDS)

Remote Desktop Support, or RDS, is accomplished by installing proprietary software on your computer which allows Brandywine IT Services to connect directly to your computer, at your request, and we can effect repairs remotely. Brandywine IT Services has established a partnership with the software's manufacturer, allowing us to bring these services to the Chester County, Pennsylvania area, as well as all over the world. All that is required is your computer can connect to the Internet, your computer and network are configured to allow us access, and we can repair your software, virus, or peripheral hardware installations issues remotely. We can even conduct online training using RDS as well!

Note: Although RDS is very convenient for our customers, RDS does require software installation on the remote computers, configuration of firewall software active on the computer, and configuration of existing hardware routers and firewalls in order to function correctly. Normally we can direct our customers over the phone in making the necessary changes, but these configuration settings may be beyond the customers capabilities. If you or your staff cannot make these changes, an initial one-time onsite visit may be required in order to make the required installation and configuration adjustments.

Microsoft 'Vista' Upgrade Services

 Do you have a computer with Windows XP or 2000 and want to upgrade to the new Windows Vista operating system? Brandywine IT Services offers our Windows Vista upgrade service, including:
  • Evaluation: Given that Windows Vista has specific hardware requirements, we will check your system to ensure compatibility with Windows Vista.
  • Recommendation: If hardware upgrades are needed, we will take into account your budget and performance needs to recommend the best solutions to get your system up to date. We can then provide you with those parts and upgrade your system.1
  • Data Back-Up: To protect you from data loss, we will back up your My Documents and Desktop folders and then transfer that data back to your computer upon installation of Windows Vista.2
  • Installation: We will perform a complete installation of Windows Vista.3 This includes finding and installing all necessary drivers for your hardware.
  • Testing: In order to ensure proper performance, we will fully test your system and make sure there are no problems before returning the computer.
Pricing:
Basic Upgrade: For customers who already have a copy of Windows Vista or a Windows Vista Upgrade Coupon. This includes all the services outlined above except data back-up. $99
Upgrade with Data Back-Up: For customers who already have a copy of Windows Vista or a Windows Vista Upgrade Coupon. This includes all the services outlined above. $150

1 The cost of any parts needed for a system upgrade is not included in the price of the upgrade service.
2 This service is provided at an extra charge as outlined in the price list.
3 This service does not include the cost of the Windows Vista operating system.

NOTES: Repair fees do not include the cost of replacement parts

 

*  Remote Desktop Support requires configuration (both router/firewall and computers) on the customers end. One phone support call (if the customer is able to make changes to the router/firewall under our direction), or an on-site visit, is required in order to enable this functionality. The cost of the service call does not include the cost of the High-Security Remote Desktop Support software ($50.00/ licensed copy)

 

  **  Inspection fee included in repair cost; charged separately only when no repair is authorized.
  ***  Brandywine IT Services will install legally licensed software ONLY.
All repairs are covered under our 30-day labor and 90-day parts warranty, or as specified by the manufacturer. Brandywine IT Services recommends you regularly backup your critical data at least once a month, and we assume no responsibility or liability for lost data due to servicing your equipment.
     

Software Issues

 
Computer Repair & Installation can diagnose and fix some software issues for our standard charge ($50/hr). Please be advised that software issues are not covered under manufacturer's warranty, nor under any maintenance contracts.

For any software issues that require reinstallation, including operating system software, the customer will need to provide or purchase appropriate licensed software.

 

I'm too far away for In-Home/In-Office repair!

 

No, you're probably not too far away! Many individuals and companies think highly enough of our services that they ship their computer to us for repairs. We receive computers from all over North America. Please contact us at (484) 639-2399, or E-Mail Us before you ship your computer. You will be required to post an RMA Number on the packaging before shipment.

 

When shipping your computer to us, (1) please insure the computer is packed securely and cushioned within the carton (preferably in the original box); (2) Please enclose a description of the problem you are having and don't forget to include your name, address and the RMA number in the letter; (3) ship package via UPS, FedEx, or the US Postal Service (always insured); and (4) All shipments must have and RMA number within the shipping address (packages without an RMA number will be un-necessarily delayed).
